Book Review: The Illustrated Herbiary Collectible Box Set by Maia Toll
The Book: The Illustrated Herbiary Collectible Box Set: Guidance and Rituals from 36 Bewitching Botanicals by Maia Toll
Source: I purchased this because it looked amazing
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (see my review on Goodreads)
I think this was my first real introduction to an herbalism book. I was looking for more resources to better understand and select the herbs I put in/on my candles, and this one was so beautiful I grabbed it at once! And I couldn’t resist the idea of a set of cards to use for oracle purposes, so I opted for the collectible box set.
First, I’m sure it goes without saying, but this book is BEAUTIFUL. The box is gorgeous, with foil embellishments, and it holds everything in there nicely while looking great on my shelf. Every page is full-color, illustrated, and beautifully designed. Each herb included gets a wondrous full-page illustration, some history and lore, along with some correspondences and ritual suggestions. It was a perfect introduction to get me started.
The selection of plants included in The Illustrated Herbiary isn’t exhaustive, but the list includes plenty of the most common ones used in herbalism and witchy rituals, along with some that were new to me (or at least less familiar). And best of all, it introduced me to the incredible works of Maia Toll! Not only are they gorgeous, but each word is filled with so much love, intention, and magick that it’s palpable!
